Students. Dolphin as a friend competition.
The Life Delfi project was born out of growing concern within the international scientific community about the interactions of cetaceans with professional fishing activities. In particular, it is increasingly common to see dolphin carcasses found on the beach or in the sea with signs of impact with fishing gear.
Dolphins in order to feed end up interfering with fishing activities, with the risk of being caught and thus drowning, seriously or fatally injuring themselves but also damaging the activities of fishermen by following fishing boats to find food more easily. That is why the Life Delfi project is concerned with limiting the interaction between dolphins and fishermen in the Mediterranean as much as possible.
To inform and raise awareness of this issue among children as well, there are educational materials and the opportunity to participate in the first Dolphin as a friend 2023 contest.
The contest, organized by Legambiente and aimed at 4th and 5th grade primary and secondary schools in Veneto, Marche, Abruzzo, Tuscany, Campania, Sicily, and Sardinia, involves the creation of a poster aimed at raising awareness of the importance of cetacean and sea conservation. The entry and materials must be submitted no later than May 13, 2023.
More details about the competition and how to join can be found in the announcement.
